Welcome to Contadora Island
The island is located in the centre of the Golf of Panama, just a twenty-five minutes flight from Panama City. It belongs to the Pearl Islands, which consist of ninety bigger, and a hundred and thirty smaller islands all surrounded by innumerable white sandy beaches.
There are many islands in Panama, but there is just only one that really deserves to be called a real juwel - the island contadora.
The island is located in the centre of the Golf of Panama, just a twenty-five minutes flight from Panama City. It belongs to the Pearl Islands, which consist of ninety bigger, and a hundred and thirty smaller islands all surrounded by innumerable white sandy beaches. What first catches the attencion of every visitor are the white sandy beaches, coconut trees and the crystal clear water of the ocean. The surface of the island of contadora is about 300 hectare. The island whitch mesures 4 by 1 km, is part of the Archiepelago de las Perlas.There are 13 sandy beaches, 5 of witch are especially worth visiting. The Playa Larga, Playa Galeon, the Playa Executiva, the Playa Sueca where the nudist a located and finaly the definatly most beautiful beach, the Playa Casique.In the last decades the island has got quite lot of attencion.
End of the 70 ´s the Persian Shah Mohamed Raza Pahlevi lived in Contadora in exile togheter with his wife. Or in 1983 the head of gouvernments of Mexico, Venecuela, Columbia and Panama met for the first time and had a conference in order to establish Peace in Latin America - since than internationally known as the Contadora Group.
